I recently began my flashlight adventure here on CPF and have met a several very cool and helpful people. The two I will mention here are Derek Dean and FASTCAR. Derek offered much guidance including the suggestion that I correspond with FASTCAR before buying my first really nice flashlight. I was looking for a single 123 cell light.

FASTCAR recommended the Amilite T5. He told me how when "you first turn it on in your back yard you are going to giggle!" And that the engineering, fit and finish are top notch. Well, I'm here to tell you that he was right on ALL counts. And I was skeptical. No more.

I placed my order on the evening of Tuesday, August 28th and it arrived on Friday the 31st. I went with the $12 EMS delivery which advertises 5-7 days delivery worldwide. So, needless to say, I am impressed with the order processing and shipping speed.

This is my first nice flashlight and I am very impressed with the quality. The threads are silky smooth, very fine, and reek of precision. The lens was delivered perfectly clean. And FASTCAR didn't exagerate. The flashlight delivers a beautiful beam, nice spill across 100 feet of my backyard. And I definitely "giggled" with joy when I first turned on the light. I'm surprised at the throw given the smooth quality of the beam and the amount of spill.

I can highly recommend this light. And thanks again to FASTCAR and Derek Dean for all their help. :D

IMO this is still the best 123x1 light you can get.
You should review that "other" light a also.

Thanks again, and I will review the "other" light after I get over the disappointment. The "other" light FASTCAR is referring to is a KD Cree Q2 5 mode 1xAA $15 flashlight. :sigh: :thumbsdow

PS. Ever think of changing your handle to "The Oracle?" It would be appropriate.

You know robo,I try to shoot from the hip.I am not "PC" nor do I care if some get offended.I will not speak on any subject unless I know what im talking about.I am also big on testing stuff.I am not brand loyal. To get a real idea of the delta between the lights I saved all the pics to a folder and then opened the first one in Windows Picture and Fax Viewer and then went through them with the right arrow key. Very cool! Almost like a movie. :twothumbs

Thats the idea of the series, to get the real feel for the difference in performance. I tried to make them follow in centre spot brightness, not overall brightness. The fist lot are LED's and the rest are incans, they are only a guide, hope that they may help in future purchases.

I'm sure it will help. I'm very interested in the Deree, and your beamshots really help. I'll look up the models I'm not familiar with.

Thanks again!

Fine review robo21, now I'm looking forward even more to some beamshots. I had a feeling FASTCAR would give you the straight scoop and get you headed in the right direction.

Thanks for your guidance Derek and your kind words. I feel fortunate to be a member here and to have met you guys. What a great community.

Be patient on the beamshots, I'm hoping to have at least one other light before I shoot beam shots for comparison purposes. Meanwhile, cernobila (at the link in his post above) has some beautiful shots of many lights including the Amilite T5. :twothumbs

I bought an Amilite T5 when they first came out, i'm still amazed at the amount of light it puts out, and I also love the worksmanship put into it. Great buy!

You can also buy the (Bizman) bezel separately too if you like that style.
$8.50 from Amilite. They also sell very nice lanyards too for $4 each.

It seems to me that this dandy little light doesn't get discussed as much as it should. Great beam and bargain.
