Right now my brand new Peak Logan is sitting next to me waiting to die down because the head is stuck. I twisted it all the way to it's brightest being careful not to over-tighten because it gets pretty tough to untwist if I turn it too far. Well, even in spite of that it's somehow jammed shut. I've tried all I can to get it to unscrew. I put a towel over it to protect it and even tried to use a pair of pliers to unscrew it. This ended in me exerting enough force to actually rip the towel and leave horrific scratches on the bezel with no luck whatsoever getting it to shut off in the process. I'm really bummed out right now, I'll have to give them a call in the morning... :mecry:

Put mine in the freezer for a bit.......expand contract and was able to unscrew it. Different light though......

As I said, I'll be giving them a call. A $90 light shouldn't get stuck like this. Got it just the other day. Considering that the President delivered the light to me in person, I'm thinking they're the type of company that will stand behind the product as well.

Spoke to Robyn on the phone for a minute, lost signal since she's on the road to SHOT. As expected, the issue will be resolved. I'll just be without my light for a bit. I've never heard of this with Peak so I assume it's rare, and my Eiger can be tightened with all my might without getting stuck so I'm sure a replacement will work out great. :)

Try wrapping a rubber band over the head many times. This will allow you to have grip over the head and it should untwist. I had a problem twisting the SS head and my hand got sore, so I resorted to this solution. It might work for you! The other option is strap wrenches.

Robyn is awesome. Spoke with her about it and she's going to get me swapped out with another one brand new. Also impressive is that over 48 hours later the light is still on at low brightness. This light sure doesn't waste any juice!

Interesting, that bit of misfortune you had. You must've tightened down the head when you were in Superman mode, and then lost your super powers. :) Any Kryptonite nearby?

When the head is that tight, it can take a bit of force to unscrew. Frozen like you've related, sounds (to me) like it was inadvertently misthreaded when first screwed down... and possibly because the threads in the bodytube hadn't been machined properly. I can't think of any other reason. Hope you're more fortunate with the replacement.

I have an Eiger that can handle being forcefully tightened with all my might and then loosen up super easily. I'm guessing the replacement will be similar and I'll have no issues. I love the light overall, can't wait to have another one soon.

No, Robyn picked the light up and she's going to swap it out with another once it's built. I'm looking forward to the new one. According to Robyn, she suspects that the Chinese battery that the light came with broke inside and created a sort of vacuum seal holding the light shut.

I will have to pick up some of those Chinese batteries if they can break and still keep producing energy.

That's pretty funny! Sounds to me like maybe the threads got overlapped somehow. Curious if this was brass, aluminum or steel. No surprise that Robyn made it right. What the heck were you tightening it so far for, anyway?!?

It wasn't on max, and I was tightening it to max. I really didn't twist it on with any force at all, it just got stuck on max. And yes, Robyn is a fantastic lady! I was thinking about picking up a 2x CR123 light with a much higher output in the future as well and my experience, even in spite of the issue, has me wanting to call her up and order an NP light from them directly when the time comes without even looking at anything else.
