I have been drinking heavily and working on lasers...

Good, now that I have your attention, I was noticing all the recent "activity" on the board and decided it was time for a change of scenery.

here: specwhore.com/temp/

grab electape.avi and liquid.avi, For the truely inquisitive there are quite a few images in that area in the /laser/ directory.

Have fun and yes, there are 6 lasers operating in liquid.avi. About a watt of 532nM in total. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

"And now something completely different"...I saw the same phrase on a Commodore 64 demo some years back. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif
I'm on a dial-up connection, so I did not view the .AVIs.

Spec...You need a bigger workbench Dude!!!
I think one more laser and its all gunna fall down...:D
All kidding aside..very nice collection.
Something must be wrong with my winamp..no video /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/icon23.gif
Looks like you got those Chinese Modules ok..HI
And "lichtenberg" very Interesting /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif
Wish we were neighbors... I think together we could ruin the neighborhood

Im trying to find a better bench. Have yet to find anything reasonably priced (<$200) though. Then again, who am I to define reasonable given the amount of money I have sitting on the table... Ill spend $1000 on a damn good argon laser, however I wont spend $300 on a dinner table to place them, heh.

I did purchase "far east origin" laser heads with power supplies. I am impressed with everything except the beam divergence, its pretty large. The inital beam size is .5mm and is 2.4mrad. However, the power density up close is amazing. It just bores through tape and red plastic cups, including the white layer on the inside. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

The videos were encoded in DivX format, the raw file was over 30 megs. www.divx.com for the codec, get the free one.

Speaking of neighbors... I was shooting the 488nM argon in the pool with the polygon scanner and the window had a 1 inch gap facing his house about 12 feet off the ground.

First thing he said was "thats a beautiful shade of blue, how did you do that?"

I am glad I have cool neighbors. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Yes...Indeed impressive power..I didnt realize that the divergence was so bad...they must be coupling the diode directly to the Vanadate causing poor spot-size?
Anyway,...Kewl video /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif ...I forgot I had Dvix..didnt think to try it till you mentioned it (thanks).
Someday I will get brave and post a pix of my working area,
It's such a mess with Ham Radio and satellite and laser stuff all strewn all over the place. Its any wonder I get any projects done at all..Had to move all the laser stuff from the livingroom as my son was getting nosey with it.
As for that "NEW" project with EnigmaHack "that" sounds like a nice project.

wow, the electrical tape video is incredible.

I like your workbench, complete with bawls and cigarettes. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Is that your 3000Gt? If so, nice. if not, still nice :P
