My last ano job pretty much went unnoticed in the Modified Lights section...so this time I'll try posting in here:

Just finished...

Another ano job for Freewheelin'...

Did a lot of experimenting with this, my first Ti Dragon job... I re-did it more than a few times, which means I've got color ano'd on top of color. Turn out pretty cool if I do say so myself.

The stripes are less than perfect. The pinstriping tape I bought was supposed to be ideal for this sort of application...it was wasn't. The ano creeped UNDER in a couple of spots, but overall it looks good.

Every other "X" was individually handpainted with nail polish (let me tell you, that took some time). But the result was pretty nifty....Gold "X's" in a field of purple/blue.

What do ya think?

Hope Mike is happy...

FYI- If you missed the ano job that I recently did on Mike's Ti Gatlight, look here:

Excellent painting job. I've never tried painting Ti, only anodizing by immersing in the solution. Your result is very clean.

??????

The only "painting" I did was when I applied nail polish as a resist.

But thanks!

It looks good but don't take it outside.

I'm not sure that you guys understand... This has been anodized! It'll be fine in the rain.

By "painting" I mean dipping a paintbrush in whatever solution you were using to anodize, running power through it, and touching it to the body of the light. I assumed you used this method because you were able to control the individual color placement so well. If you did something else, please let me know.

thats amazing, and i understand how you did it! lol. i cant imagine how much time that took you. great work, keep it up!:twothumbs

You assume incorrectly sir! :D

The light breaks down into 4 parts. Each part was ano'd one-at-a-time. For each part I used some form of resist that enabled me to immerse it into the ano tank more than once, so as to yield additional colors.

i cant imagine how much time that took you.

Let's just say...I definitely earned my pay on this job! ;)

WOOHOO, and its all mine my preciousssss. Thank you Dennis, the Gat is beautiful but this is BEYOND that. I love what you've done here. It looks like you got every color in the rainbow and then some. I'm going to have to hide this light from my daughter, LOL.

Mike-

That's music to my ears (eyes?)...

Thanks for giving me the opportunity to work on both lights. I'm happy to have been of service!

Thank you for a most eloquent compliment!

As it turns out, several guys have made mention of the ano painting process... Definitely sounds like something I'm gonna have to investigate...

Having said that...I'm not so sure that there would have been any other way to handle the stripes, or the X's as accurately without using some form of very controlled resist (as I did with this).

Thanks again,

Dennis

I was just saying its...uh...well..pretty...so I wouldn't want to take it outside because it would lose some of its "luster" if it were to say, face plant on the asphalt.

I can see it´s a "pro" job... but this is not my kind of light. Too colorful!

Anyway, congrats on the job!

That's why there are so many possible flavors and color combinations!

How about just a 2 color combo?... I seriously loved the way the two colors worked together on this one:
