I am back in the market for high quality LSD's and am looking at the Eneloop XX's. No problem there.

I have been looking at the charger's Eneloop own chargers, and only one stands out - the MQR06 - as it has individual charging channels.

The one thing I don't like is that it has a fast-charge feature. I presume this is in response to demand from Joe public, but find it contradictory to their own FAQ to supply a charger that will charge 1 battery in 75 minutes when their own FAQ says

Do any of you guys have any experience with any of the above and how they compare to the MH-C9000 or MQR06?

I am particularly interested in your views on the TI-400L as they offer 8, 12 and 16 piece chargers too - all with a car adapter.

you dont seem to be needing the extra analyzing features of the c9000, for simply charing up the batteries, the MQR06 is quite good.
It only fast charges if you have 1 or 2 cells in the charger, if there are 3-4 cells, it charges them in 120-180mins

but charging eneloops at 1C is not a major problem anyways (1 hour)

if you want something better without the analyzing features, look at the maha mh-c808m

On that basis the TI-400L isn't too fast at 0.5A - if I understand correctly that is 0.2C of a 2450mAh XX Eneloop.

Re the MaHa - is it better than the MH-9000 as it is more expensive.
 
I have the eneloop charger which i am happy with. With one cell it charges at 1680ma, 2 cells at 1120ma and 4 cells at 560ma = i charge minimum of two which takes 2hrs. I have 16 eneloops,4 x eneloop xx and 4x sanyo 2700 and eneloop aaa,s. I try to charge 4 when possible, which takes 4hrs- six months on, all are still as new.
 
I have 2 C9000s that I keep on active duty with recharging and occasionally testing and cycling my Eneloops, primarily.

It's well worth it in my opinion if you're serious about maintaining and recharging your NiMH cells, Eneloops especially.

Re the MaHa - is it better than the MH-9000 as it is more expensive.

"Better" is kind of sujective here. It can recharge more cells simultaneously, and can also recharge C and D cells. But other than that, no, I wouldn't say that it's better.

I have had another look at the MQR06's manual and noticed that it's lowest charge output is just over 500mA - making it comparible with the Tensai if you ignore the faster charging options.

On those I am a little confused.

I understand that a cell in slot 1 or 4 will charge at x3 and 2 cells in slots 1 & 4 will charge at x2.

Does that mean a 1/2 cell(s) in slots 3 and/or 4 will charge at x1.

Also, what happens if you use slots 1 & 2 or 1 & 3? Will it charge both at standard rate or will slot 1 charge faster (especially in the slot 1/3 configuration).

If they charge at the same rate - what happens to the slot 1 cell if the slot 2/3 cell finishes charging first, does is charge rate increase? And what about if slot 2/3 is removed - what happens to slot 1 then?

How smart is the Santo offering?

I have to say I am not the most regimented person in my care of tools, so while some of the extra features could be useful I am not sure I would use them enough.

I keep coming back to that Tensai - it is much more portable, and it's charge rate matches the lowest of the Santo, but it is also intelligent - but it doesn't appear to have a 200mA mode unless I am missing something.

I am very confused. The Sanyo would probably meet my basic needs, the C9000 will let me assess and group cells with like charges and then there are the ones in between.

Unless you need the features of the Maha M9000 and similar chargers, you cannot go wrong with the AccuPower AccuManager model 20 or 10 , they fully charge your battery better than virtually any other charger and they are reasonably priced.

I have two AccuPower model 20`s and one model 10, i use the model 10 all the time.

The Technoline (seems to be same as the Lacrosse BC700) may not be the best for Eneloop XX. They're 2500 mAh so even the highest charge current (700mA) seems low. I've had a few missed terminations with mine. Besides that, it's been performing perfectly with 2000mAh Eneloops. Decent price, nice individual readouts, good UI.
 
I have the c9000 and the MQR06. I generally use the MQR06 for recharging AA's (1 or 2 batteries can use slot 2 and/or 3 to charge at slower rate) One battery in slot 1 or 4 will charge at max rate (1.68A). Two batteries in slots 1 and 4 will charge at 1.12A.
One or two batteries in slots 2 or 3 will charge at 560ma. Also 4 batteries using all slots will charge at 560ma.

I use the c9000 for break-ins, checking capacity etc.

Could you possibly shed any light on the charging rates on the MQR06 when using slots 1+2/3+4 or 1+3/2+4 - and what happens to the cells in slot 1/4 when the cell in slot 2/3 is fully charged and/or removed?

I am guessing that slots 1+2 and 3+4 are paired, so that using slots 1+3 or 2+4 would have 1 fast and 1 standard charge, but am not certain on this and would rather that this was not the case.
 
look for the instructions, everything is there, if you use 1+3, 1 will charge at 1.1a, and 3 at 560ma, if you use 2+3, both will charge at 560ma, if you use 1+4 both will charge at 1.1a

Not quite everything is in the instructions. I have read the instructions and it only mentions the speed/current differences for slot 1/4, 1+4 & 2+3/1+2+3+4.

Your reply concerning 1+3 (2+4) confirms my suspicions, but does that also relate to 1+2 (3+4) configurations.

I was actually warming to this charger until I read in the instructions "do not charge for more than 6 hours" which to me says it doesn't shut off fully when the cells are charged and is therefore unsuitable for overnight charges.
 
thats wierd, to me it seems like it shuts off completely after it chargers

if you want to charge 2 cells at 1.1 amps you use 1 and 4, if you want to charge em at 560ma, you use 2 and 3, simple as that

I know this thread has been inactive for some time, but I would like to contribute with some information about the MQR06 charging behaviour when using one of the quick charging slot simultaneously with a normal charging slot.

I found CaptCarrot's questions about how the MQR06 charges in the 1+2 and 1+3 configurations interesting. I own the charger and have tested it with some AA Eneloop XX's. I drained the batteries and charged two Eneloop XX's in the charger's 1 and 2 slots. The charging time for both the cell in the 1 slot and the 2 slot was around 4 hours and 30-36 minutes (at 4hr30 both indicator lights were on, at 4hr36 both lights were off). This is very close to the expected charging time stated in the manual of approx. 270 min. with a "normal" charge rate of 560 mA for 2500 mAh capacity AA batteries. By conclusion both batteries seem to be charged at a "normal" rate (560 mA) in this configuration. I havn't tested 1+3 and 2+4 and 3+4 but I suspect the charger will behave in the exact same way in these configurations (both cells charging at 560 mA in all cases).
 
I chose the C9000, though didn't see 'other' I also have Panasonic's BQ-CC17 and La Crosse BC-1000 chargers that i generally use. I just got the C9000 in the mail as well and so far it's awesome.

In fact I have a couple of them. Am going to open one and see what it would take to run it from 12 volts.

I'm thinking about getting a BQ-CC16 - a faster version of the BQ-CC17 - to take the "routine" charging load off my Technoline BL-700 & BC-1000.

The Technolines have given me reasonable service, although they are prone to pausing to let the cells cool down when I'm charging 4 cells at 700 or 1000 mA, which obviously makes the charging process take longer.
 
Yes the panasonic BQ-CC16 is a good independent slot charger, similar to the sanyo MQR06 which still operates as new after 2 yrs of reliable service. One difference is they have dropped the fast charge for single cell-so max charge rate is now 1100mah for [2 or 1] AA. You can also charge any combo of AA and AAA at the same time-very handy.
