Thanks to alpg88 for the idea, I took the NTC and enclosed it in the head of the Kiu C hi-temp socket. I am using this with a bored Mag 3C and 3-AW IMR26500 cells. Also works with the JC5607, not sure how long :D







My thoughts here are the heat from the bulb will lower the internal resistance of the NTC, increasing bulb efficiency. The downside is it will take longer to cool off so after the light is switched off, so immediately turning it back on could result in a flash, depending on the battery state. I have seen other installations in the head, but i liked the neatness of hiding it in the switch.

Something very similar has been done before. Turning it right back on shouldn't flash it as the filament is already hot, this is what causes flash on a cold start up with the filament not up to temperature.
