I want to make a 2x 18650 7.2V pack for a headlight, but want to be able to easily take out the 18650's and use them in lights between rides and in the off-season. Are there any 2x 18650 holders that wire up in series? Prefereably next to each other.

I searched and saw an M6 holder, but it is not flat and seems to depend on being in the M6. I just want a flat configuration to fit in my jersey pocket that is not shrink wrapped so I can access the batteries and use them in othe rlights. I might be able to cut that one down so it is flat...

Maybe somebody has an old Laptop battery case I can cut up?

I was also looking around for that (well, actually 4x18650, but i would have been OK with 2 2x in series).
Seems to be very very rare indeed.

Looks like my best bet may be to buy a cheap 2x 18650 DX light for ~$40 and adapt the battery tube. I'd probably have to gut the head to make the positive connection and wire it up to my cable connector.

Might be cheaper to find tube sections. There seem to be "lego" pieces available at both DX and KD.

The cheap light has attractions because you get the proper tail cap and a useful head and LED. (more project possibilities)

(Thought about it myself)

P.S.
For a bike light, I would be concerned with shock protection for the batteries, especially if you use them in a flashlight tube where they are in series. Those protection circuits get destroyed pretty easily with moderate impact.

Best regards,
DGM
