My NDI has developed a weird problem.
It refuses to turn on, but sometimes it will come on for about 3-4 seconds then it won't work, I have changed the battery, I have tried 4 different cells, all tested on multimeter and other lights.

I have cleaned and re-lubed it but still no go, any ideas ??

Hi fluke,
Not only making sure the tailcap is TIGHT, but also make sure the switch hasn't turned loose inside the tailcap. That can happen quite easily.

It looks to me like a case of bad contact between head/body/tailcap possibly due to dirty body edges or dirty threads. Any difference between tight head and loose head?
I had this problem initially with the first series NDI and I remind you that the body threads engaging with the head should not be lubed.

The threads on my NDI's head was a bit "gritty", and the tail was too loose.

Maybe check your switch? The NDI switches are known to be vulnerable to malfunctions so double check that to make sure it's operating within specifications.

The switch and the gritty threads were a few of the reasons I got rid of mine to get the Smart PD lights.

Thanks for the replies.

I have tried the following, checked switch with meter, bypass switch = no difference, tube is definitely making contact with head, I even tried a small piece of foil to ensure contact with head even thou the threads appear to be the contact point.

It is strange that every so often it randomly works for a few seconds

Still not working even bypassing the switch?

The threads are the contacting points for low mode, when pushed all the way in, the flat surface of the tube contacts with the outer bottom of the pcb and becomes high mode.

If no mode works, send it back for a warranty. I got charged fixing my spear pill even the light is DOA shipped directly from the manufacturer :thumbsdow. If you are buying from fenix-store then it would be a :twothumbs.

I was just exhausting all possibilities I got it form a forum member so will have to see where I stand with the warranty side of it, not sure where it was purchased from, I will make some enquiries.
