As the tiltle says, i have previously tried the cheap quad optics from dx and KD etc.

But are any off the big players or retailers doing a very narrow beam angle (4 deg) quad optic in an MR16 size?

The KD aspheric is pretty tight. Maybe 4 degrees
Ahorton's aspheric is 5.7 degrees.

I doubt you will get a tru 4 degree in a reflector or in a whatsit (technical name escapes me) optic.

EEr excuse my previous post. I was talking about the 50mm single aspheric not a quad. And you will not get 4 of Ahortons aspherics in a mag.

Cheers, but yeah definitely needs to me a quad optic in mr16 size with a nice tight beam for this one. A tall order i know!!

Ideas???

I've tried a couple of small aspherics (12mm) from surplus shed. When used with a Rebel emitter, the projected die size was approx 200mm x 200mm at a distance of 1750mm. That works out to be a half-width angle of the order of 3.5degrees (7degrees cone angle). This was noticably tighter than the pattern from a 4 degree RES optic from Ledil.
I'm putting together a small light with 7 of these packed into a 40mm diameter.
