Anyone else bought bulk-packed Eneloops?

Hi,

Amazon UK had a deal on recently where they were selling 8xAA packs of Eneloops for £11.xx delivered. I thought I'd have some of that, as it is a pretty good price for the UK, so I bought all their remaining packs (3 packs).

Now, I expected them to come in the normal retail packaging, but these didn't. They are packed like this - there are 4 cells in a nice, fairly sturdy, clear plastic battery case with the word Camelion moulded on the case. Then 2 of these packs are placed inside a sealed clear plastic bag. The plastic bag has a white label stuck on it that reads Sanyo Eneloop AA 8 Pack batteries 2000mAh New along with a barcode B000IUDUOQO.

They look and smell like real Eneloops - I couldn't see any typos on the label (I'm sure I saw some pics of fake Eneloops that had a typo somewhere on the label) and they seem to be performing fine in my C9000.

Has anyone else had their Eneloops come like this? I wondered if they are the "old" 1000-cycle Eneloops getting cleared out for the "new" 1500-cycle variety (not that I mind having the old type - I'll never get anywhere near 200 cycles, let alone 1000 or even 1500 :) ).

Cheers,

Yes, I did.

The last time i bought eneloops where on Ebay (yes, I know, buying eneloops there can be hit&miss) just to know if they were legit ones because the price (9€) were really good.

I received the 4 cells in a camelion clear box, just like the op stated. I suppose they buy them in bulk and even after addin a box the total amount is less than buying retail packages. I dont care about the retail blister and, in fact, I preffer the clear box because it can be reused instead going to the trash bin.

The eneloops I got were just like legit ones, were very consistent between cells, had the expected charge out of the box and after a cycle + break-in the capacity were in the 1950+ mAh, so I think they are selling legit eneloops and not counterfeits.

FYI, the ebay seller were a german one: fitformobile.

Could be an industrial application supplied battery avoiding the costs of retail blisters,I buy my camera cards in this way for a fraction of the price and never had an issue with them in all the years I have bought this way.

Last time I bought 4 eneloops I got them in a Uniross plastic travel/storage box.
A little cheaper than ordinary retail and as a bonus in a much more useful packaging

Some dealers just buy those bulk packs of 1000 or so and do you the service of repacking them for a cheaper price since they're cheaper than ordinary retail packs. Voila they can sell you the cells a little cheaper while they get more profit and you a travel/storage box - a true win/win situation.

Just buy from a respectable dealer and there should be no problems.

Hi.

Glad to see that it is a relatively-common practice then :)

Thanks all for the clarification.
