I just got these AMC 8X1735 drivers in the mail from Kai domain. I ordered the old variety and this is what I got. The solder pads to pos and neg led have a little more real estate, plus the tiny holes. On the spring side, the spring appears to have a silver plating, rather than a gold plating. Notice the gold squares and solder pads on the spring side. No familiar stars, so I am grateful for the data sheet on their website. My question is, has anyone had any problems, or noticed any "Quirks" with this driver's modes. Any personal preferences? Is there a default setting? Thanks for your feedback! I have not had a chance to work with them yet.

Quirks or problems? If you got a dodgy batch they'll flicker very gently. Very annoying but hopefully you will be OK.

The star drivers you speak of are the NANJ drivers. The ones you got from KD use different micro-controllers so have different options. These ones are actually more flexible because you can set memory and have more mode options. There also cheaper :)

My personal preference (and that of many around here) is a simple LMH no memory. Solder S2 and S4 and you're done!

Sounds good Matt. The plan is to connect one of these to a 4X7135 single mode board to power a 3 up XP-G. This would be my first mod of this type. CPFer Richpalm has had such good results, I thought I would try one. He makes it look easy!
 
I like the "Low" mode on this driver. It's actually useful to read with up close. I did ruin one of them though. The tension from the three separate LED (-) wires getting bent around while working on the light engine was too much for the neg solder point and pulled it off the board. Not so much as a speck left! Oh well, I can always use it for parts.
