Not sure if this qualifies as a lantern but since I'm mostly interested in its CCFL feature might as well post this here:

Xenon, LED, CCFL Light

Has anyone used one before? Any comments on the build quality, runtime, etc?

Welcome to the forums! I have that very light in your first picture and have had it for about 1 1/2 years. It's called the 4XAA "Favour Light". It's a great light and is pretty well built. The CCFL is pretty bright and so are the Xenon and LED's. I've used it camping many times and it's very handy. I keep it stocked with lithium AA's as an emergency light. I also had the tiny 4XAAA "Favour Light" but sold it off because it wasn't very bright but that was to be expected because it was so small. I like this light and recommend it!

Gene - thanks for your input. I think these should make excellent home emergency light for power outages and such.
I also consider the Energizer Double Bright but it's pretty hard to find either on web or in local retailers.

BuddTX - I've seen many variation of this light on the web under different marquees but in the end they all look like coming out of the same mold.

That is a...*consults website* Nuwai, FX-880 I believe (non LED), and FX-8801 with the LEDs.

I have a few of their lights, never had any trouble with them. All are bright, though the FX-602 and AT-100 don't maybe have the world's nicest beams. I'm happy with them. AN-606 is my favourite of the Nuwais I have though.

They are excellent emergency and camping lights. As I said, I've taken mine camping and it's a neat little light source especially in the CCFL mode. They are also great for emergencies and I live in a very rural area with power outages being not that uncommon and have used it for that also.

Very nice site! I enjoyed it. That FX-602 is the one I had but sold it. It really is a nice little light but really wasn't bright enough for my use. The 4XAA light is much brighter and even though larger, it's a best buy!

I've never seen the Dorcy light so I can't help you but there sure are a bunch of different brands of this light floating around!

Mine is the model No. FX-8806 (6 LED). The build seems very good, with no noticeable flaws. Feels well balanced in the hand. The CCFL is nice and bright, but takes maybe 30 seconds to reach full brightness (which is normal for this type of light). Run times seem to be as advertised (see the link). The only thing I don't really like about it is having to go through all the modes to get to the one I want--having a selector switch as well as an on/off switch would be the way to go. But I don't know of any "multi-mode" lights that do that.

I consider it my "swiss army knife" light.

Thanks for all the feedback guys. Just ordered two from lifestylefascination. I think they are the Nuwai FX-8806 after comparing descriptions with Nuwai's website.

DougNel- I agree with you; it's kind of a bum having to cycle through the modes on a single button. I can't start to imagine its potential for lots of "Do'h" after I have a drink too much - of coffee, that is. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

I think the Nuwai FX-8806 is a great flashlight.

Somebody said that NiHM cannot cannot be applied on the Streamlight 7led (4AA) in order to avoid burn out the Led (since too much overdriven). Then, is this FX-8806 also?
