Anyone tried this?

My guess is that the most efficient one will limit the current to the other resulting in the other not being as bright.
If you get 2 with very similar efficiency it shouldnt be a problem.
But that is just a semi educated guess.

Since they rate rated to 18volt why not just run them in parallel?
 
One guy on Dealextreme website (user name spinkix here http://www.dealextreme.com/feedbacks/BrowseReviews.dx/sku.11836 )published his readings of mA drawn for voltage applied & light output - he observed that above 6.5v there is no increase in light output, all my batteries are 14.8Li, so if they'd run in series I'd be nearer their optimum voltage.
I want to mount 2 of them in aluminium tubes on the side of my cycle helmet so I'm trying to keep the weight down.

But you can't run them in series. The first one will work, but none after it.
