No, this is not a sign up list. Also, the first production run is going to be really small (like 10 units) so they will go fast. I will post here on the CPF when we are ready to take orders.

The 2x123 packs have not been tested with copias yet because we are waiting for the final machining step. There is a possibility they won't work with the copia cells. For rechargeables, I strongly recommend using the 123 LiIon cells that should become available later this summer. JSB is helping us get these cells so we will can offer these on our website. I have been using these cells for about 2 months now and they really fit into our EDC goal set.

Peter says: The first production run is going to be really small (like 10 units) so they will go fast.

Uh. Am I the only one who thinks this is a tad insane? I mean 10? This must be a typo...

10 !!!
/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/ooo.gif

that sounds a bit, ummm, too few /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

but i guess it cannot be helped. peter need to make sure that this tailcap satisfy or at least working according to the requirements (of CPFers /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif )

Perhaps to be fair the first 10 people to order the Arc4Rev2 should have first shot at ordering a tailcap and/or extension.

I think kj and Jpeg who gave ( and illustrated) some of the most useful input to the tailcap design should get a first shot.

When I first received my Arc 4+, the light turned on accidentally so often (at least 4 batteries worth in the course of a week), that I was forced to put the light in semi tactical mode. I have owned two of these lights and they both did this.

Even in semi tactical, the light manages to get into an on state far too often (several times in the last month or so). I do use this light often and carry it in a convenient location on my person (a sheath).

My biggest issue with this light is not being able to rely on the light being present because of the problem with accidental on. Semi tactical is a pain in the rear and ensures that I have to turn the light on for someone else to use.

I just can not accept that I am alone in this experience.

The problem is so prevalent that very long and well thought out threads have been started and maintained on this topic.

Why such a small run? Peter, are you using this as a beta test to refine the design? It can not be to gauge interest... 10 is not enought to cover even well committed interest.

Why are you so against this sort of cap as a default?

kercheval, i believe Peter does not like the new attachment from the start. It is the push from fellow CPFers that finally makes him to make (doh) the tailcap.
but i dunno his intention on making only 10 /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/icon3.gif
maybe he is afraid the same thing will happen with the 2AA pack for the arc LS series. But i think we should understand this. peter wants to make sure that the products he makes do not hit dead water.

As this is the first production run of a new product I would think that a very small run is only sensible. There may well be problems with the production itself that don't become obvious until you do the first run. Any issues can then be identified and fixed before a full production run is done. That way if there are issues, you don't waste lots of money making and then ditching bad parts.

It seems rather short sighted to assume that Peter is doing this because he doesn't like the tailcap. I don't believe it has anything to do with Peter's reluctance to make these parts. He has shown in the past that if he really doesn't like an idea he just won't make it.

Well if anyone is one of the lucky 10 and doesn't like it (the 2x123 body that is) Keep me in mind, I'll buy it off you for a good price. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/broke.gif

It's a certainty that the first production will sell out in about five mins. or less. I have a feeling we'll see a second run within a relatively short period thereafter. Patience my friends, patience! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/popcorn.gif I take mine with brewer's yeast ,cayenne pepper, and lots of salt.
It will be entertaining to participate in the initial tailcap sale, just like the famous Arc 4x sale. Very exhilarating. I propose no software proxies and we all stand 3 paces away from our mouses at the designated time. May the fastest reflexes win. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Peter said - Also, the first production run is going to be really small (like 10 units) so they will go fast.
I assumed he gave us a estimate number of production. It could be 5 tail guard and 5 2X123. Or it may be alittle over 10 of each. Maybe I may be wrong. Again, I would like to see they make more of 2X123 so I could have a chance buy one. Suppose I use 2X123 and could use higher bright level for extra mins.

Being among the first to receive the ARC4+ Rev2, I've been playing with it all day and I can honestly say that the present tailcap switch does not click on so easily as to be prone to accidental turn ons. I think Peter's resolved the problem quite nicely.

Haven’t seen any thing on this for a while -
I hope that this accessory isn't dead.
I could use a couple of these and am thinking it is too good an idea to waist.
Anyone have any new info on when or if this will be made? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/icon3.gif
