They are ARC Flashlights that don't make the cut to the normal supply chain. They fail Quality Control.

They might have minor cosmetic blemishes or some other more serious defect.

ARC factory seconds are guaranteed to work & you have (I
think) 14 days to return them. I read others at CPF liked
the seconds they got so I tried 2 & I got a LSL-P & a LSH-S.
They were great so I bought 2 more & got a LSH-P & LSL-s,
good also so I bought 2 more & (JACKPOT) I got 2 LSH-Ps.
Some had scratches on the lens & 1 had bubbles around the
edge of the lens, but all worked great & the beams weren't
affected. These are a great value!!! Buy some.

For the most part, from what I hear, most people are Very happy with their "seconds".

You cant request what version LS you want though. (high dome, low dome, standard, premium.)

They are ussually $60,,, they were, and might still be, , on sale for $50.

i have several ls seconds in my toolkits and such.
they have been very reliable.the defects are usually cosmetic and you have to work to locate them.
great value if you are going to use them as tools.
you dont care if it gets a ding or scratch.

The scratches on the lenses are to identify them as "seconds" if ever returned to Arc. I got an LSH-P with the scrathed lens but could NOT find anything to make it a "second."

I ordered my first ARC as a "second" and got lucky on my first draw, an LSH-P!

It has a few very minor nicks in the finish and the color of the beam is a little blue (but I really dont have anything to compare it to other than a Brinkman Legend LX)

Now that I own it, I have no doubt that I would pay the full price for one.

Well, I'm hopin'. I'm a natural-born skeptic. But a friend and I are getting presents for our children and decided on Arc LSs. So I ordered six. I hope we don't like them so much that we'll need to order more. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

just got mu second in the mail on monday. its awsome!!! got an LSH-P and just ordered another one this morning. the anodizing on mine were two different shades, but not that noticable.

Just got my first 2 Arc LS units today, an LSL-st and a factory "second" LSH-st. The LSH has a flawless body with a great beam, very white appearing- makes me want to try a premium! The lens has some scratches, thought it was cracked at first, but is likely just surface blemishes.
Is it easy to remove these scratches, or should I ignore it since it works fine? I think I saw something on another post that mentioned rubbing toothpaste on the lens to remove scratches. Either way, seems like a great light for the money, can't wait to use it daily.
Also, the switch seems to activate the light with not much pressure for 'instant on'... I wonder if pocket carry would make it come on intermittently a lot, probably not an issue, a holster would cure that anyway.
