last year i got my girlfriends dad a cool LED flashlight that was like 40 bucks at the discovery store, he is into regular maglite type flashlights and collects them, but he ended up liking the LED one i got him, so this christmas i wanted to get him something better

im thinking of getting him the Arc-LSH Premium, it seems to be the best LED light i can find, im curious if i should get him the regular version or the one with the tiny focus beam, there is no real application to use the light for, he just like really bright lights he can shine in peoples eyes and stuff

for just fooling around with, do you think he would like the tiny beam focus light or the regular one? or is there a 3rd option i should be looking at...the $150 price tag doesnt bother me, but i probably wouldnt go much higher then that

thanks for any input

what is the use for a flashlight for him? all around usage? (L4 or the LSH), or more toward throw, in which the LSHF-P would serve him better (in terms of lux world, anyway). Also, is 123 battery a factor? if it is, then you HAVE to get the LSHP or the LSHF-P, because these support 2AA config.

for "cool factor" the lshf-p will beat out the lsh-p i think.
both are outstanding, but i think he'd be more impressed with the increased throw of the lshf-p.

Does he live in a rural area? If so get the throw, otherwise go with the LSH-P, this is an all around use light. Outstanding flood, but still a nice hotspot. I have BOTH, I think if I kept one it would be the regular LSH-P, not the new one with throw.

I haven't seen the long throw version but the LSH-P is about the perfect balance of throw and flood for around the house utility work in my opinion. About the perfect amount and configuration of light. However, if he's mostly going to enjoy the "wow" factor the long throw might be more interesting to him, but for most uses around the house I am a believer in some sidespill.

For flashlight users used to those big aluminum lights, the long throw version of the LS would definitely be the best choice to impress them. It throws more like those lights, but has all of the LED qualities that we like so much. On the other hand, if he decides that he's really going to use the thing a lot for around the house tasks, he might get more use out of a model with a little more side spill. If he just likes flashlights, he'll get a kick out of any LS model.

P.S. All are good for blinding...at least at close range. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif
