ARC LS or ARC AAA

I am going to buy one of these two, i saw the arc aaa in action vs the solitare, and i was very impressed i wanted to get one"the arc aaa" that is but i am wondering about the LS and videos with it in action. How about this if. Which one should i get.

Two completley different animals.

You want bright and easily portable and don't mind spending >$60 then get the LS

keychain light killer for around $30--get the AAA.

well i'd rather have the LS anyday! but like Jason said, it can be twice as much as an Arc AAA or worse..

they're both pretty damn small.. the Arc AAA being keychain sized in fact.. the Arc LS is a tad bit longer and about an inch wide..

you can find very clear measurements of both lights on Quickbeams site at www.flashlightreviews.com and also learn the specs of them both..

notice the Arc LS puts out a few hundred lux more than the Arc AAA..

i'd reccomend getting the Arc AAA first and then stepping up to the LS.. but i guess it really depends on your needs!

Is this your only light?
Will this replace another light?
Do you have any other LED lights?
Do you want a dim, long runtime light or bright short runtime light?
Do you want to carry this light sometimes or all the time?

The Arc LS is a big punch in a small package, my LSH-P's beam is PURE WHITE. Not a tinge or green or blue. It fits perfectly into a pocket so it's ideal for EDC. I never leave home without mine.

The Arc AAA has a bright beam for it's size. Even better is that it's regulated so it wont dim on you like a Photon would, it's 6 hour runtime isn't too shabby either. I recommend both lights. They compilent each other very well /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Thanks, that's the kind of info we need to give you a helpful answer.

I think the LS would better suit your needs. It has a decent runtime and the light output is about that of a 2 or 3 d-cell flashlight , but with a very nice beam.

The ARC-AAA is very small, but the light output is correspondingly small, About the same as a minimag I'd say. But again with a better beam. Now that might not seem like much but this light uses one AAA instead of two AA's and is about one fourth the size of a minimag.

I EDC my Arc LSH-P, Arc AAA, AAA CPF Edition, and Arc AA. These are all excellent lights, and I carry them for different. If I need a fair amount of light, I whip out my LSH-P (which has an extremely white beam). Most of the time the Arc AAA is bright enough, so it is what I use. I carry the CPF AAA and Arc AA for backup. I like to have a variety of lights to use. But it is up to you what you really need. Personally, I would get both if I were you. The Arc AAA is just an awesome light for the price, and is a great backup to my LSH-P.

As the owner of both a AAA-LE and a LSH-S, I find myself EDC'ing, exclusively, the AAA simply based on size.

Wxcept when wargaming, I like my everyday stuff to fit in my pockets. All of my folding knives have low-lying pocket clips, my cell's small enough tp slip into my pocket,and even my keychain doesn't present as a big lump in my pants.

And that's my biggest issue with the LS -- it will present as a buldge -- it's like carrying a roll of pennies or "LifeSaver's" candy in one's pocket.

I carry the LS when I specifically have a potential need for it in-mind. It's got a lot more usable light than the AAA, but you will have to pay for this in size.

From the looks of your criteria, it seems that either of the two lights would be OK -- keep in mind this ancillary factor.

DumboRAT, I think you mirror my sentiments exactly. I started with an AAA-P and also have an LSH-P. I only EDC the AAA because if I'm somewhere dark enough that I need a light (for close range work in the AAA's case), then the AAA is all I need. I also notice the LS's added size when I'm carrying it around, but don't feel or see the AAA.

I started with an AAA and now EDC both. The AAA is the must-have light. It is so tiny. About three could fit in the watch pocket of my pants. I've sold about six people on the AAA as well /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif The LS is quite nice, but not as essential. You may wind up getting one eventually.

The LS with twisty is so much smaller than my previous EDC, an SF E1/KL1.

I find as a pair they do quite nicely. My AAA gets about 90% of the work, and runs off NiMH cells.

Sinjz, the LS4 is reported to be just a smidge bigger around than the current LS, but also a little shorter. Sorry I don't have the exact specs, but I'm sure someone does if specifics are absolutely required. I'm really looking forward to this light, and the size is the only disappointment.

I EDC my LSH-P which is exactly as big around as a roll of quarters. Its significant on my keychain (don't trust it alone in my pocket) and I worry that even the slight increase in diameter will cross some unspecified comfort line. The prototypes have aleady been manufactured though, so Peter's probably committed to the size. Not that there's much chance in me not getting one. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif
