Saaby ya need to try it with a regular AA cell to be sure. My guess is it would not with a AA…larger 1.5V cells maybe….the LS current rating has confused me a little and maybe I should have posted my reasons earlier so here is another story
i use to post my current ratings of my arcs in my sig but then i wasn't sure if the values were the current driving the LED off the converter or overall current being measured at the battery so i removed them
my original LS, what is referred to as a "300" mA actually draws 380 mA at the battery
using a fresh 123 cell. Its dimmer with a single AA but runs for 3 + hrs,
i get 2+ hrs with my recent SLSs.. it varied a little between units. It does not have a raised Ag + button.
my SLS’s range from 380 to 480 mA at the battery
and they all have the green PCB with raised button with flashed Ag, (again using a fresh 123 cell)
if one chooses to measure the (s)LS you do need several power clips onto the head and holder metal ( plus the battery and arc "button" to minimize voltage drops to get a accurate measurement….3 connections to measure the current draw... about did it …for my reading i repeated the test using 3 different fluke DMMs, two flukes i use are the expensive $1k models.
..resolution to 6 digits..using 1 connection ya can be off by 50~100 mA
i just been catching up on the 1 C 2 D posts...original LSs would naturally work great.... for the later versions to be sure ya would have to test it as your SLS mA current draw may vary (but a larger C/D cell would have less of a voltage drop to).
