OK, I'm confused. Why did Craig just spend 152.50 /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/eek.gif on an Arc 4 second? What did I miss here? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thinking.gif I must have missed something. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/icon3.gif

I didn't know they were only $99.00 at Arc, otherwise I would have gotten one that way instead of going to ebay to get my "fix". /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/icon3.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/mecry.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/icon8.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/jpshakehead.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/icon8.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/mecry.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/icon3.gif

I would have happily loaned him one if he had only asked.

I didn't know you had one, let alone would loan it for evaluation on my website.
O well, live and learn I guess. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/icon15.gif :toliet: /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/icon15.gif

I'm mystified. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/jpshakehead.gif Surely, someone on CPF with an extra Arc4 could have lent him one, preferably a 4+ first( sorry,Craig,I only have one and it's surgically attached).

Well, I was supposed to get one from Arc, but not until the 2nd run had begun. And the space on my website is starting to run really, really short (I removed one of my other websites just last week to get a few hundred K), so I figured I'd better get one soon (as in "now") if I am to review one on my site.

Jeez Craig... where have you been? :toliet: /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Maybe you should email/PM jcciv and see if he'll "release" you from your contract. Maybe he can offer it to the runner up. Maybe you could cover his eBay fees on it or something?

I've already sent my payment and he's already packed it up and provided a mail tracking number, and I'd feel really bad asking for my money back now.
I guess I'll just eat the $59.50 this time around. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/eek.gif

I'm flabbergasted. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/icon15.gif :toliet: /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/icon15.gif

I just received the Arc 4+ a few moments ago, but I have a new kind of LED (a Nichia NCCW022 for those who care) and a flashlight that uses that LED that need to get up there first.

Naptime now...see y'all in a couple of hours. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Ooooh, new LED's... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/drool.gif You're not kidding, a Google search yeilded only the Nicha home page with a big "under development" gif below the LED image...

That should actually read "new LED" - singular.
So if I somehow manage to blow it up before testing, I'll be SOL. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crazy.gif
Well, I still have one in the flashlight, so I guess I won't be totally 100% screwed. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

As soon as I get these on my website, I'll start working on the Arc 4+ and get it on my website as soon as I can. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

dont feel bad - i got my 2nd for 120 the day previous to the price drop - and i WORK there! i of all people should have known- do i regret it? not one bit and you won't either. enjoy it and if you have any questions just PM me and i will do my best to answer them.

Craig,

I don't know if the new software upgrades (mine is version 123) have a differednt sequence in the menu but the S.O.S. menu item is the first option on my light and the switch lock is the second option.

Best regards,
Bill

Craig said: Well, I *am* running out webspace (there were 4 or 5MB when the Arc4 first came out; now I'm down to a few hundred K), so I ought to try and snag this one now and get it on my website before I run completely out of webspace.

Craig what does it take to add more space, does this mean you cannot add anymore reviews down the road?

If I continue deleting other websites on the subdomains I have via AT&T, I can probably get another 1-2 megs; beyond that I'm SOL.
As of a couple of days ago though, somebody did step forward to volunteer some of their webspace (paid up for three years), so maybe I won't have to delete any more websites after all. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif
I'll know more by this weekend.

Bill,

The text under "How To Use It" was taken from a fairly early draft of the Arc 4 instructional material; so a software upgrade probably did occur between then and the time I put the flashlight up on my website.

As time permits, I'll find the most recent instructional material for the Arc 4 and place that on my website.

Craig, looks like the e-Bay may have actually been a second on account of not making the full brightness, despite the seller's claims (speculation) to the contrary. You got 386K out of it @ 12". Your LSH-P and LSHF-P First samples beat that @ 450K and 438K respectively. The Arc4+ has been reported in several other locations as having twice the brightness of both earlier premium models. You might want to avoid publishing either brightness or runtime figures based on your sample without nearby mention that it may not represent First units.

Always a pleasure to visit your site tho. Take Care.

You know, that might not be a bad idea at all. Not bad at all!!! I'll add this "disclaimer" to my web page at once...BRB...ok, I added the following to the page under the beam picture:

IMPORTANT: These measurements are of a "second"; "firsts" are known to be brighter.
Please do not base your purchase decision on these mcd readings alone.

Thank you very much for your suggestion. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

one other correction for the LED Museum--Arc now offers a lifetime warranty, instead of the earlier 10 yr. on their first quality lights. For seconds,15 day return policy, sold "as is".
