Hi all,

I'm discussing with myself whether to start saving up for an ARC4 or not - and I've followed the 2xAA discussion with interest.
My concern now is that, for me, the ARC4 is too expensive - for my EDC needs, it doesn't do anything that a Photon II wouldn't cover. But if I could use it as emergency/backup bike light, things might look different.
My question now is: is the ARC4 either temperature regulated, or does it have enough thermal dissipation capabilities to run on +-350 mA for an extended time without being held in my hand but instead cliped to my bike with e.g. two rubber rings?

Bye
Markus

it should run fine at a medium level, and if it gets too hot, the brightness will just step down.

Just did a quick test. Left on the table, it ran at the maximum setting for 3.5 minutes before stepping down one level. I think in actual usage, the difference between these 2 levels are barely noticable. If i remember correctly, the highest setting is around 700ma, so at a setting equivalent to 350ma, the battery will go flat before heat becomes an issue.

I can't make a test by myself....because mine is still at Arcflashlight /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif

You are happy lucky devil guys /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Comparing an ARC LS, much less an ARC 4 to a Photon II????????

That's like comparing a $2500.00 mountain bike to a $79.00 Huffy.

Maybe you need to read a little more about the ARC4 and gain a little better understanding of what it is and what it does.
