Today I received the Barracuda in warm tint. This is just beautiful. It's a substantial light with great hold because of the unslip surface. The beam is pretty similar to Predator, but with a significantly brighter hotspot. And actually the spill is even narrower. I did some lux readings standing on a chair and shining on the luxmeter on the floor(~2m):
Armytek Predator warm vs Nitecore MT40: very similar lux value which also is according to the stated values of these lights.
Armytek Barracuda warm provided around 2,5x higher lux value than these lights and around twice as Surefire M6L Guardian.
If my measurings are correct it should mean at least 75000 lux at 1m, and this is the warm option.
I want to say that I really like the narrow spill of these Armyteks. I wrote it in a post several years ago that I think a true thrower should have a narrow spill of two reasons: 1: avoiding dazzling too much on the foreground. 2: get a brighter spill. And the spill of Barracuda is very bright. The tint is warmer than the tint of my warm Predator.
It's fun to be a flashoholic these days! I will try it out more this weekend!
