This may be a "old-school" light to many, but the ASP is one of my favorite incan's.The source I previously purchased from is no more.Does anyone know of a dealer for the internal-focus Tac-Lite?
I don't know about "over there", but you might mail order it from "over here" at Niton Equipment
I have bought job kit from them on several occasions & they are reliable and fairly fast. Not necessarily the cheapest though...
My favourite incandescent as well. Unfortunately it did'nt fair too well from a few hours in the sea & has'nt been the same since (Not waterproof). /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif
On the bright side, its demise started me on the trail to LEDs' and I hav'nt looked back since. There's always a silver lining there somewhere... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif
Thanks,LoneRanger,I found out about the Tac's water resistance in a hard way too. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/icon15.gif That introduced me to divelights as everyday lights.Thank you for the link as well. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif
Nightshade;AFAIK, the internal focus model is no longer produced. The lights are now called the "Triad," and are all external focus. IMHO, it's still a good light (I own one of each), but I prefer the original internal focus model.Galls (a public safety equipment company) has the external focus model for $64.99 (www.galls.com). You might also check the CPF sponsers (such as Bright Guy), and see if they have them (or can order them). Check around; you may find someone with old stock. Don't forget to check the BST area.Hope this helps.Mike
I've convted my Triad to Lux3T with Li-Ion 18650 direct derive with two stage action. The tube has to be enlarged a bit of course or you can use 17650 instead.
Thanks Mike and Henry.I think I'll give the Triad a try. If the new model performs even half as well as the old model I won't be disappointed. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

The original Taclite with internal focusing is one of the three brightest, longest throwing 2x123 lights on the market. The others are the PM6 and TACM III. The terms "Taclite" and "Triad" have been used loosely and confusingly by many retailers and by ASP itself. The so-called "Triad lamp" came out when the original Taclites were still commonly available. It had an elongated teardrop tip as opposed to the Taclite lamp's cylindrical tip and had improved brightness.
I don't know how accurate this link is but Tanner's refers to the TACLITE; it may be the original internal focus model. Tanners used to be generally if not always reliable but I haven't used them in a long time. Call them to check.
I bought mine from Tanner about two years ago and it a Triad not the Tac-Lite. They still use the name Tac-lite for Triad.
I later found a Police supply and bought a used Tac-Lite from the owner. He regrets it.
In ASP catalog, the Tac-Lite is referred as Triad I, which has internal focus. The External focus version is referred as Triad II or simply Triad.
So when you order, send an email to ask whether it's internal or external focus. I really think the Tac-lite is hard to find now. Why not try the B/S/T area, some old timer CPF may have them for sale.
Thanks again Brightnorm and Moraino,I've purchased a Triad (in red!) but I'm still hitting the bricks looking for the internal focus model.Brightnorm, I agree ,the original Tac will allow looking down 6-7 floors of a elevator shaft and allow detail to be seen at that distance. I'll post here if I can find any N.O.S. Probably purchase two, after a few years of ownership, I always find a way to put one in the water.
I bought mine from Midsouth Shooters Supply, I can find the catalog to provide you with an address, but a search in Google will disclose it.
By the way price is very good there, less than $50.00
