Hello,
I have been searching for a pack to use for hunting. Cheaper Than Dirt has a "level 3" assault pack which looks good and ehobbyasia has a similar one for cheaper. I'm not looking for super high quality, just a cheap pack to throw around in the woods. ehobbyasia and the ebay vendor charge as much shipping as they do for the pack (seems to be a going trend on ebay :-()

Anyone know of any better place for a similar pack.

For refrence this is what I am looking at:
cheaper than dirt
ehobbyasia

I like this style but am open to any option. I'll probably go with CTD if all else fails.

Thanks!

Hi oronocova,
First off welcome to CPF. If you are looking for a pack for hunting and for rugged use, I suggest you stay away from these imitation packs. I know they are cheap and seems to be a bang for the buck, but just by reading some of the reviews it seems to be not a good deal at all. I have used some packs in the past that looks like the one on cheaper than dirt (though not similar design) and they are not very good for rough use. Mine only lasted for around 3 months, and I only use it for school. Now if you want some really tough packs I suggest you look at the Maxpedition porducts, thouhg they are a bit pricey they will last you a long time. Also look at the eagle industries products. I have both and have proven themselves to me.

Not cheap by any means, but I have a Kifaru Navigator. Should probably have gone for Marauder, as the Navigator is a bit large for what I need, but the Marauder doesn't have the Omni-belt as standard, and the extra space could be used for a tent and insulated bed roll if I wanted to buy them.

Eagle Industries +1 (A-III large with side packs and frame sheet)

I have a Kelty on the way to check out though... it wasn't too expensive.

Just picked up an Eagle Industries A-III and it's a great pack for the money. :twothumbs

Condor Tactical packs are great and use 1,000 nit Cordura which is like all the other hi end packs. They are also reasonably priced.

Even though this thread is a few months old, if you haven't already bought a pack consider that a cheap one isn't cheap if a little more expensive one lasts 4 times longer, is more comfortable, and does a better job. Get the best you can afford has always been good advice.

I did end up getting a backpack from BassPro. RedHead I think or whatever "cheaper" brand they carry. It has done well on it's first trip. It had a built in light which was not that great and I removed to use it's storage pouch for lights of my own choice. It has a lot of little pockets, good for hunting. But it also has plenty of storage for a camping trip (which was it's first trip.) For 50 bucks I think it will last me a good number of years which hopefully will be money well spent.

Thanks all for the input. If I get into backpacking I'll end up getting something better with a frame.
