brightnorm, batteries can give a good voltage under no load. That is, if you just meter a battery it might read 1.45v, while a new one might read 1.52v. Now if you take those same two batteries and add say a 100mA load the 1.52v new battery might go to 1.40, while the older 1.45v battery might drop to 1.25v. So how much the battery voltage drops with a load attached or "under load" is what you really want to know, not necessarily the voltage of a sitting battery. Does that make since?
