batt question...4 D cells vs. 6V \"lantern\"

what's the difference in capacity between 1 6V lantern battery and 4 1.5V D cells in series? I have an LED bulb for a 4-cell maglite that i ordered intending to get said maglite, but am now looking for other (cheaper) 6V options to use it in.

By a *BUNCH*. Typically 26000 mAh against 18000.

Or to put it another way, the 6V lantern will supply 1A for 20 hours, while 4D cells will supply 1A for 7 hours (to 3.6V)

thanks alot /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif unfortunately i miscalculated a little...the 6V lanterns use negative to the tip of the bulb, which isn't how my little LED critter is set up. looks like i've got some work to do

Check the battery. Some 6v lantern's just use 4 D cell, and some use the larger F? cells to get you the 26,000mA
