Hi,

Can i use rechargable batteries in my leadlght 5 mW laser ?
If so which ones ?

The reason i ask this is i am going though 2 packs a week and its starting to add up /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/knight.gif

i got one.. and i use them all the time..
The batteri last 3 days /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

Oh and i am upgrading to a 38.5 mW leadlight if that makes a difference

What mAh of battery should i be looking for ?

Are these ok ?

The highest for AAA is 630 to 650 mah that should be sufficient since leadlights run on 320Ma.

hmm e2 titanium and lithium are over 1000 mah. . that's alright for the laserpointer right ?? I mean. . it won't damage the laser right ?

Hello Woodsie,

The mAh rating is the capacity of the battery. Those 800 mAh NiMh batteries on eBay are interesting. I am not aware of that brand, but thought the highest capacity NiMh's were 750 mAh. Battery technology is improving.

If your laser draws 100 mA, and the battery really has 800 mAh capacity, that means that your laser will run for 8 hours. The e2 batteries at 1000 mAh would run for 10 hours, but they are not rechargeable.

energizer lithium batteries have a higher operating voltage and may not be suitable for some lights. You should be able to use any nimh AAA or standard alkalines with no problem. They make 750mah AAA nimh and up, capacity has little to do with driving voltage just longer use time without recharging.

I would check and see if your device is ok for use with the 1.7v lithiums before you try them, it may overdrive the diode too hard.

AAA size NiMH rechargeable batteries are now available in 900mAh, and the 1000mAh cells are just entering the market. A 0--mAh cell is marketed by Ansmann, but they're really made by Sanyo.
