Battery Capacity

Not sure if it's the right term but what I want to know is the'capacity' of the different kinds of battery. Regarding with eneloops/NiMHs it has 2000 mAh. So the eneloop will provide 2hours of run time to a light that consumes 1000mAh/hour. Am I right?

Now what I want to know about other batteries is how much mAh does one have? Like Energizer Lithiums. Energizer Max. Duracell alkaline. Eveaready Gold.Even the Eveready Super heavy Duty(Carbon Zinc)

Effective capacity varies with discharge rate. This affects some chemistry types more than others, especially the alkaline cells you mentioned.

Energizer/Duracell batteries can have as much as about 3000mAh worth of effective capacity in applications that have low drain rates, or as little as 1000mAh or less in applications that have more.

Alkaline voltage levels are more directly proportional to their state of charge too. So while in use in applications that have a higher minimum operational voltage level (say, 1V for one AA) they also tend not to last as long.

So basically, it depends how they're being used.

Carbon-zinc and Carbon-chloride should be BANNED. These batteries are totally useless everywhere. Even in remotes etc are alkalines better and they are at similar price, only litte more expensive. And they even contain toxic lead :shakehead
