Don't know exact size but Accupower Evolution D's are 1/32 longer then regular D cell batteries, Now would an AW 18650 still be larger then these D cells? I am making a battery case that will hold my batteries and I need to know the length of all the standard flashlight batteries (AAA, AA, C, D, CR123, RCR123, 18650) but as I stated certain types of batteries although classified as the same(D cell) are different dimensions. I tried looking for a thread but found nothing. Maybe a sticky is in order?

Novel idea, I really hope someone takes the time to put one together.

I tried to put one together but I kept getting different sizes for 18650 batteries, Could not find the dimensions for Accupower LSD D batteries and all my NiMH's are longer then my Alk's. I guess it's 1 battery at a time.

So, the question is? How much longer is an AW18650 than an Accupower D?
Didn't pull out the calipers, but on my tape measure here I get 2 3/8 inch for the D, 2 5/8 for the AW.

And that my friend is what I needed to know, Thank you.
I am going to write down the lengths of all my batteries and when I have enough to start a decent thread I will do so. :twothumbs

I don't remember the policy about posting URL's,
but for common Carbon / Alkaline / Nickel cells
check out:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battery_sizes
and
http://www.all-battery.com/sizechart.aspx

For the Lithium Ion Cells, I read somewhere
the first two digits are the nominal diameter
and the second two are the nominal length
in milimeters.

Thus a 18650 is 18 mm in diameter and
65 mm in length nominally.

Hope this helps, I'm sure there's plenty of
variance between manufacturers, +/- ~5%,
maybe more in China, I'd suppose.
