This is just speculation, but I had always operated under the assumption that:
Charge is 1 cycle, discharge is also 1 cycle...
A 2000mah battery has 2 cycles (charge/discharge)
A regular NiMH can last 1000 cycles
And that NiMH can supply approximately 1,000 Amps in its cycled lifetime (2000ma x 1000/2 cycles)...
So I would combine the charge and discharge current into and out of the battery, and then guage the accumulation as a toll on its life cycle...
Of course, this is pure speculation...
