I'm about to receive a 6PD, and will install either a Malkoff or BOG LED drop-in in it.

I'd like to know if I have any options, other than the called for CR123 batteries or the Surefire nicad kit which adds length to the unit.

I'm especially interested in something which can be recharged.

Thanks.

PS...I'm enlightened!

Outside of getting an extension or boring out the body for a thicker battery, you are limited to RC123s or a single 17670.

I went the 17670 route.

I get about 120 min of runtime, with the last 40 min at 50% brightness or less. I could get another 20 min off the battery, but at that point the voltage is so low it putting out around 10 lumens.

The Malkoff M60 draws more than the Lighthound Cree that I use, so you'll get less runtime. Many CPFers bore out their bodies for a higher capacity 18650. If you can live with a ~100 min of runtime, the 17670 is the way to go, IMO.

Thanx, USM. Does the 17670 fit without any alterations or spacers?

At 3.6-3.7v I guess the Malkoff will run direct drive.

The Ultrafire 17670 I have fits my brand new 6P and the older one I posted in the the pic. I guesstimate 60-80 min of regulated light, and 20-30 min of declining brightness with the Malkoff.

My new 6P is configure like this at the moment:

Detonator +1 cell extender from Lighthound, a Lumens Factory HO-9 320 lumen LA, and two AW 17500 (replaces 3 CR123). As set up it is BRIGHT. Tonight at work I'll compare the throw to my Tiablo.

Thanks again. I've been searching the forums, and found AW's thread with the new Protected 17670 (1600mAH) and a charger for them. That looks like it might be the way to go for maximum runtime. If I'm figuring it correctly, I should get a bit over 90 minutes from the Malkoff, and somewhat less from the new BOG Q5.

Now I'll have to read up on the danger warnings for Li-Ion batteries. So much to learn.
