If you have a 5mm blue LED that runs on a L1154 button cell and you put that into a MAG-Lite that runs on 2 AA's, will the LED pop???

Probably not. It also probably won't be all that bright. If you're lucky enough to get one that is bright, *then* it will 'pop'.

You need to have more battery than Vf and also have a scheme to limit current. Unfortunately, you'll need to understand that to understand that........
