battery powered night light

I'm wondering if anybody has seen a battery powered night light, ideally something that is fairly dim and which shuts off when there is ambient light. I have been hunting around and not really found anything. (In fact, there are lights that turn on when there is ambient light rather than off, I guess for closets.) It's easy to find this as a plug-in device, but I need to run far from an outlet (would rather not use an extension cord) and am having trouble finding a battery operated one.

Has anybody seen anything like this?

Good timing. I picked up several flame less candles around Christmas time last year at a Dollar General for $1.00 each (Sorry, couldn't resist :crackup:).

They used two AA batteries, featured a single yellow LED that had a candle like flicker and automatically turned on during the night and off during the day. Batteries lasted at least several weeks and were still running when I turned them off at the end of the season.

Check around at discount stores like Dollar General or Dollar Tree and you will probably be able to pick them up now or really soon.

I found a motion-sensor 4-LED light which runs on 3 AA cells, that has
worked great over several years, in unheated/sheltered environment
(shed attached to house) with temperatures ranging between +30C and
-30C. Cost was $10. It also worked well in a small lightless fridge.

The light ran for about 1-1/2 years on 3 alkaline AA's which were not even
new. This indicates very low standby current for the PIR interface. It stays
off, exposed to high ambient light during the day.

It was sold in Canada under brand Electro, model NL-597, through Canadian Tire. I have not seen them in awhile, but have not been looking. At the time it was a special product I could not even find on their website. Check around, it should be available somewhere.
