Battery Storage

Does anybody foresee a problem with storing fully charged NiMhs in a Pelican type airtight case? Storage time could be from a week to several months. I realize that after several months the batteries will have lost most of their charge. My concern is off gassing from the batteries building up in the airtight space. How about Lithium CR123As in the same environment? TIA.

I don't see a problem with this storage method. NiMHs and lithiums cells are only supposed to leak or gas out if heated considerably, being discharged rapidly or being deep discharged. They should be fine, if kept in a cool and dry place. Charge the NiMHs and let them cool down before you place them in the case.
Some (if not all, I'm not sure) of the Peli cases have automatic purge valves anyway, so even if there's gassing from the cells that should be no problem.
