Hi,
I just have a BB, set up for final mounting into the host light, and have found a BB Nexgen here.
Now I wonder which one to take?

What exactly are the differences?
is that right:
BB Nexgen is (1) more efficient and (2) can give higher current?

If (1) is right, would it be worth to change the setup for the Nexgen?
By now the max input current is 700 mAh (which equals to 650 mA to the Cree, from an 18650)?

Neither,

If I read your post correctly you want to use a 18650 which hot off the charger is 4.2V and drops to 3.8V.

The Cree LED nominal Vf is no more than 3.6V which means Vin (Battery) is less than Vf (Vout).

You should consider a step down or a buck/boost.

For Step down there is the Downboy.

For buckboost there is the GD and Wiz2 board.
