You can stick any AAA or AA ~1.5v battery in the BC900 and if it is below 1.4v is usually will tell you the voltage..... 1.4v and above it will say "Full".
I don't think it hurts a battery to stick it in long enough to register a voltage even if not nimh but if it is "at your own risk"
So if you have a box of AAs and want to quickly sort out the duds this is a quick way of checking the voltages on them to weed out most of the bad ones.
I am sure others have probably been doing this also but maybe a few didn't consider it a *feature*.
Oh, and DON'T leave non rechargables in the BC900 either.
