As I am about to leave tonight for a weekly appointment...
Son1 - "Dad, There was a power outage at school today.."
Me (taken aback) - "What!??"
Son1 - "A power outage at school."
Me (pretty ancy at this news) - "Who else had a light?"
Son1 - "Nobody." (I'm almost dancing with excitement now)
Son2 - "Yeah, It was really dark."
Me - "How long did it last?!?"
Son1 - "3 or 4 minutes"
Me - "Aw, man, Did the emergency lights come on?"
Son1 - "No. Not where were at."
Son2 - "I just flashed mine at the teacher and then hid it and flashed it again and she wanted to know where that light was coming from."
Me - "This is great.. A real power outage.. In the day, even"
Son1 - "Yep."
Me - "You know, the ideal light would have been a long running LED, since your E1 w/KL1 wouldn't last all that long if it had been an extended outage."
Son1 - "Oh, I had more batteries.. My spares carrier was in my backpack..."
I had nothing else to say... I had to find a hanky for the tears... :mecry:

I was elated beyond words at this incident. It was better than if it had happened to me. I gave both my teenage sons a Surefire from the "flashlight shelf" (as my wife calls it) for Christmas.. I don't regret it at all.
You know people say that children are just a product of their parents beliefs... What's wrong with that???
