Beginner's Modding Handbook?

Hi All,

I've been a CPF member for about two months now and it's finally time to start learning to do some basic modification. Question: Are there any links or brochures/books to buy with very explicit and descriptive instructions including photos, illustrations, schematics, etc. on giving an absolute novice the guidance needed to get started in this hobby? Any resources you can point me to would be greatly appreciated.

Also a list of tools that would be required would be great and then a list of places that supply these tools and especially the parts a modder would need (i.e., LEDs, boards, wiring, thermal glues, etc.). Thanks!

That link looks like a great resource and pictures really help me grasp instructions so much better than just written. I really appreciate the response.
