Can anybody comment on the durability of the BC1 coating used on several Benchmade knives? What does it look like after some time & useagle? Would you buy a knive with that coating again?

TIA,

Klaus.

Yes, I would get this coating again. I had a Benchmade 690 with it, and just got a used Microtech Amphibian with a BC coated blade. The 690 wasn't used much, but the Microtech was and has some wear on the HA finished handle, yet has none on the blade. BC has a Rockwell hardness of 90 compared to the 58-60 of most good blade steels. The only problem that I have heard of is that the coating is porous and doesn't provide any extra protection against rust.

I have a BM 942 w/BC and it has been my EDC for more then a year. There are wear marks on the outer edges only.
