Looking for recommendations for a friend. Within reason, cost is not the main concern. Brightness and runtime are more important.

His requirements:
- nothing physically larger than the AA Mag light
- rechargeable okay if runtime is quite long
- quite bright
- must have an on/off switch, not a hold-the-button-for-on feature

Thanks very much in advance for the advice!

Chris

Thera are so many Flashlights with AA are very good, at example Olight I25, EagleTac P20A2, P10A2 and so on, th difference between is not so high and you do not use $200.

I think he's looking for an powerful, contemporary AA light without multi-mode switching. Aren't most of those you listed multi-mode?

However maybe he meant a clicky switch, not momentary, and a cycle-through UI with strobe and several different SOS speeds is OK.

It's unfortunately difficult to find AA lights with simple UIs. Eagletac's T10L is a nice, simple system: pushbutton on/off, and tighten/loosen the bezel for high/low. No strobe or SOS or levels to cycle through. But it's 18650-powered.

He'd probably be satisfied with an AA Eagletac with UI like the T10L, but I can't tell from their web site which ones (if any) have that.

EagleTac P10A

Fenix TK20. It's rugged, simple and has a pleasing warm tint. Anyone can use it and it just works. It's not the smallest, brightest, prettiest or the "most" of anything, but it all comes together in a package that is greater than the sum of its' specs.

i'd take a look at this 2xAA roundup as a start.

I think what OP is referring to is the LOTC surefire switch with the momentary on but twist for constant on.

The Fenix L2D /LD20 is one of the classic recommendations in this category, however the 4sevens Quark 2AA, is basically a more evolved version of the Fenix. It is available as a 2 (setable) mode version (tactical) or the normal multi-mode version. I'm not sure why anybody would order an AA Fenix anymore.

You are forgetting the Fenix L1T/L2T.
For multimode LD10/LD20.

I think he does not want pure momentary like the Elektrolumens lights or Dorcy AAA. You have to twist the endcap for on/off.

Quark AA tactical interface, set it and forget it. If he only wants one mode, don't tell him you loosen the bezel to change modes, it is essentially a single mode light if you don't mess with the bezel.
