Hey fellas, I just bought a new GPS (Delorme PN-40) and I want to get a new set of rechargeable AA's right now I am using Tenergy 2600's in my TK-40 and other stuff but I want the latest and greatest for my new Delorme.

Whats the best out there right now?

Eneloop 2000mAh AA is a solid choice. They'll last for a good long while - not quite the capacity of the Tenergy, but they're good for 1500 cycles. That's about 4 years of daily draining the batteries (!)

The tenergy aa non lsd's have the same capacity as the new eneloops and their tenergy 2300mah lsd cells.

The tenergy aa 2600mah and 2700mah cells are great for higher current discharges as they are among the best as big chelis and wquiles use these in their high output rigs.

If you are looking for a great lsd cell,

1) the tenergy r2u aaa's and aa's are the same capacity as eneloop and are a few bucks cheaper. You can look on ebay for allbattery as this is tenergys company and you can get 24aa's or 24 aaa's shipped for 35 bucks. They are great and am going to by some more in the near future as I have plenty of new eneloops.

2) The new eneloops 1500 cycle(8aa 4aaa and a charger) are on amazon and can be had for 30 something bucks with cheap shipping as costco(gas, membership and fighting the crowds)is just not worth it.

Hope this helps...

"Best" covers a lot of areas.

1. Capacity at medium discharge rates
2. Voltage Drop under load
3. Durability after many charge cycles
4. Self Discharge rate

For "next day" applications I use high capacity Uniross Performance 2700mAh cells that give a true 2500mAh at 500mA. You don't want to use this in a months time but fresh off the charger they perform.
I use them sparingly but have noticed a slight drop in capacity over the time.
So good at 1 and 2 , not so good at 3 and 4.

GP Recyko are great for everything except for 2. My one camera sometimes give a low battery warning with hard use and that is only due to the voltage drop. The cells are still about 1/2 capacity left when you see this warning.
They give 100mAh more than Eneloops in all my discharges on the Maha or in general use.

Old Uniross Hybrio very good at all of the above and so are the Eneloop/Duraloops.
There are two old style Hybrio's where I live, the Eneloop twin and the slightly later red/green one.
The one mimics Eneloop in everything, same 1900mAh capacity while the later one gives a little more around 2050mAh.

So depending on what area of performance you want you can choose from a lot of cells, want a generalist then get Eneloops.
