Best Lights

ARC LS-Series, ARC AAA, Surefire L4 seem to appear a lot in the 2003 Luinescence Award. Can the owner of those light describe why they like them so much? Thanks.

I have an Arc LS. I love it since it is small, has a bright 1 watt luxeon, and is very durable. Plus, the construction is so good that it's a beauty to look at. It makes a great EDC.

I have had an L4 for about three months, and now with the PILA rechargeable batteries, I have portable light that just continues to blow me away.

It is a very well-made light and its light output is amazing. It is also a very broad light that lights up a room as well or better than any other flashlight I've ever had.

It fits under my wallet in my left pants pocket--and I indeed EDC it with a pair of 123s in a small container in my right pocket (with my keys).

Agreed with Sockman on the above. I just got my LS last week, and its grown on me since then. The amount of light that comes out of this little fella is amazing. You have to see it to believe it. Plus the fact that its waterproof means that you can bring it anywhere and if it gets dirty, just wash it under the tap or soak it in a bucket of water, no worries! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbsup.gif

I like the A2 I got for christmas for fair throw, and dual output. But then I bought the L4, and as Richard said, when I click it on it lights up the room with enough hot spot for almost any task. Now I EDC both.

I EDC the ARC LSH-P with the 2 AA battery pack (using NiMh batteries) and love it. The beam pattern and light output is very good for my use. I tried the LSHF-P and the L4 and still find the LSH-P better for my daily use.

The L4 is awesome. It is like having a little flood light in your hand. Not a lot of throw, but everything around you lights up. It is a great light.

I have mixed comments about the ARC AAA. I carry on on my key chain and use it infrequently. When I have needed it, it has worked very well.

The negative side (for me) is that the color of the beam is on the blue side and there are some minor artifacts present. The beam color on my $1 key chain lights is smoother and whiter than the ARC AAA.

The positive side of this light is that it is very well built, water proof, and very reliable. I should also mention that the 5 hour run time is also a plus along with its small size.

For my use, the positive side outweighs the negative side and I will continue to carry and recommend the ARC AAA. It is not perfect, but close.

Thanks for the posts. I was going to buy the Arc AAA then when I went to the web page to order it, there were an Factory Second Arc-LS so I ordered the Arc LS instead. Then an Arc LSH-P show up /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinser2.gif

CG, you may still want to consider a small, AAA type, light too, when you need something less bulky. Since I took my Arc AAA off of my keychain and carry it in a front pocket with a knife, I use it several times every day. A smaller, 2x2016, LED, squeeze light is now my backup EDC on the keychain.

I have this on my key chain. I don't use the light much because it's very dim but I use the knife and the pen quite often. The light is there as a backup.

However, I use my Arc LSH-P often; probably about the same amount as you use your Arc AAA.
