I bought a pair of 55W H3 HID's online from DDM for my Jeep a while back. Right after I ordered it, I realized that DDM has a store in Huntington beach, witch is like 5min away from my house. So instead of waiting for the kit to come in the mail, I bought it locally, and forgot to cancel my online order :ohgeez:. So now I have an extra HID 55W H3 kit that I want to use for a spotlight. This would be my first spotlight mod, even though I do consider myself a veteran of P7 Maglite mods. So I ask HIDer's, what is the best spotlight that runs on a single H3 bulb? The battery(s) would have to be 12v total to power the ballasts. I would prefer for it to have decent battery, for a practical runtime. Thanks.

I was thinking of getting the Vector storm tracker. It's probably really silly and impractical, but I really like the radio feature it has, and the optional LED's on the top. Does anyone know the bulb type?

I found H3 only produces a good beam pattern in smaller ~4" reflector. With a reasonable amount of depth like my arlec RT500.

Some shallow reflectors can cause the bulb to hit up against the lens but does no damage. Experiment with washers to get the spacing right for a good beam pattern. Here is mine. Produces a really nice wide beam thats practical up to a few hundred Metres away.
the tree is 120m away.

Thats cool, but I couldn't find the arlec RT500 on eBay at all. Also, Im trying to go for as much throw as possible, a nice, tight beam. Is a 4" reflector going to throw at all?

h3 is really not for throw, mine has as much spot as i can get & it also has a massive corona. h7 bulb in a bigger reflector like 8-9" is what you need for throw. the RT500 is very hard to fit a ballast & small battery in. Need a Lithium battery, sla just wont fit. i think rt500 is Australian only, but im shore north america sites will have something similar in size. im still amazed how much throw i get out of my light with just 4" reflector.
