I usually hang around the bicycle and MTBR.com forums. I have seen the evolution of triple XPGs on 20mm boards now exceeding 1000 well focused lumens. I cooling/heat sinks are always an issue. has anyone tried to construct a low/high/fog light replacement using this technology?

The automakers have been constructing LED headlights for some time. The short, quick, and 99 44/100% pure answer is "no, an individual or group of individuals is not going to be able to construct a compliant headlight with off the shelf parts, as it takes lots of money, research, engineering, money, research, and money."
