Bicycle headlight

Hi
I wish to purchase a bright flashlight for my bicycle. I would prefer to pay less than $100 and use AA batteries , the brighter the better. I am looking at the Fenix L2D which has got good reviews and is available to purchase at Deal Extreme.

Can anyone recommend this light for my bike or can someone recommend another light?

The Ultrafire WF-606a is a very nice AA powered light:

...but forr bicycle headlight, I would prefer a 18650 powered MTE SSC P7 :D

L2D is very nice, but use rechargeables, normal batts are no use with all these lights.


PS: 18650 light really were better - because a good Ni-Mh chager costs so much, when You dont have one (+ cells) already - that the Li-Ion charger + cells are cheaper, and the 18650 light is smaller than a 2 AA an houses way more spice in the cell.

If you want a bicycle specific light, you can build your own 400 lumen light for about $40 and 700 lumen for about $65 (not including batteries) that runs off AA's

short version:
get any P7 / MC-E light from DX, that states the input voltage of Your preferred batt-pack.
Remove body and add an end plate that:
1: makes connection to the contact springs inside head,
2: features a switch and
3: a plug for the wire of Your pack
--> done

If something of the cheap parts fail by accident, use the remains (which is the housing, led thermal/mounting plate, maybe the reflector) + some better addtional parts (led with special bin/tint, driver, focusing device) to build a perfect light. Is still the best and cheapest way to get a suitable and nice looking housing for Your homemade light


PS: I still advise the "2*AA light clamped to bars"-version to try 1st.
This is also nice and bright - good for most ppl I have met nightriding so far - and You have a good flashlight for other chores as well
