I was in Vegas for the Joshua Tree quake. My first definite earthquake experience ever (as opposed to a few rattles back home near Niagara Fals which I didn't know were quakes until later.)
Around 3AM my bed starts twitching like it does when the cat jumps up on it. Trouble is, I didn't have a cat... I slowly reach over to the light and turn it on, looking for the "animal"... only then do I notice the blinds swinging. I went to look outside, and upon standing up swayed in a manner characteristic of too much drinking, except that I hadn't had a drop. I look outside, and it was windy, but not nearly that windy -- yep, it's a quake.
