I did this build for a friend who was looking for some seriously pocketable power. It is a T6 XM-L driven by a 2.8A 3 mode driver powered by a single rechargeable lithium cell. The reflector was just something I had sitting around the parts bin and the head was bored to accept the pill. The MCPCB is an 8mm board to fit in the tiny pill. I used aluminum because I was tired of machining copper and because it is a lot lighter and the copper snugs are pretty heavy, the aluminum makes for a lighter head. When used on burst use on high works just fine for heat dissipation. While not photographed well the negative contacts are soldered on to the back of the board and are supported against the aluminum snug. Making a solid negative contact is generally the challenging part of these builds. Arctic Silver thermal epoxy will be used to secure and transfer heat to the body once the build is tweaked.

This mod may be offered, on a single cell body the output isn't as bright as on a 17670 cell but it does make for a rocket.

I'm the one he built this for. What a pleasant surprise too, since we had discussed possible builds, but had nothing planned yet. I have to source a body and tail still, but once I put everything together I will take some photos of the light and beam shots. This light made an otherwise shitty week much better. nice mod, I've done two similar ones, I agree the negative connection between board and light body is difficult. could you explain your process in more detail, I'm interested in any other solutions that others have tried, thanks

I don't have many great photographs of the negative contacts points but here are a few. They are kinda like little wings or tabs soldered to the back side of the driver.







This is a similar snug in an e-series also sporting the same shinning beam driver (yup xpitxbullx, a shinning beam special).

No problem. The key I've found is making sure the "tabs" or "wings" are supported from the back side as they will get crunched when screwing down a head.
