Hi All,

I was wondering if anyone can help me out, I just purchased a Blackhawk Gladius after reading many reviews here. I have read the instruction how to program the initial turn on setting (default is Full power) as I want to change the initial setting to lowest.

Sure seems easy enough on the owners manual but It just isn't happening for me and I am now wondering if it is a problem with the light (maybe user:shrug:)?

I hold the light on for ~10 seconds until I receive a double flash output and turn off. When I turn it back on it is still the highest settings?

Love the light, just don't need that much power @ start-up.

Any ideas? Thanks!!!!!

Well I was just checking because I have two Original Blackhawk Gladius Flashlights and I wasn't sure if they had changed the UI and from what I am seeing on the website they haven't. The gladius is not programmable. from the tail locked out(channel 4, or 1 twist to the next mode, blackhawk calls them channels). When twist the tailcap one channel (channel 3) you will be in the constant on/dimming mode: you will come on in full and if you hold the button down it will dim, once you turn it off you will be back in full power not turn. Turn the tailcap two channel 2 you will be strobe mode, Turn to channel 1 and you will be in momentary.

Mine is programmable, ill look up the instructions and give u a pm.

Sounds like you have to make it blink twice, then blink twice again, then turn off.

quote from instructions:

"To change from Mode I (factory default) to Mode II, press and hold the button in CONSTANT ONOFF
mode until the light blinks twice (approx. 10 seconds). Repeat the process. TURN the Light OFF.
The next time you activate the tailcap, the light will start off at its lowest level of output. Adjustment
from there will initially go up."

Full instructions can be found at http://www.night-ops.com/pdfs/Gladius-Instructions-web.pdf

Redcar's right - you have to do this TWICE. Then it will change to the next mode. I also have mine set to come back on at whatever level you've set it to.

Yup, thanks all for the replies. I have been doing it correctly :sigh: however, it is always on the default setting and it appears to be locked into this function. I guess I'll be calling Blackhawk on Monday.

Perhaps their is a way to reset this light?

Thanks again!

That, unfortunately, I don't know - mine is in the 23000's, but the format is slightly different (there's no '08-' prefix). Hopefully Blackhawk will be able to confirm which one you have.

So it turns out that the device is ok. :ohgeez:After speaking to a Blackhawk rep, they stated you must power on CH3 until device flickers twice (on Low) without turning off, hold down until flickers twice again (on high). than turn off. Mode will be move to next mode two, than mode three etc...

The instructions state:

"To change from Mode I (factory default) to Mode II, press and hold the button in CONSTANT ONOFF mode until the light blinks twice (approx. 10 seconds). Repeat the process. TURN the Light OFF.
The next time you activate the tailcap, the light will start off at its lowest level of output. Adjustment from there will initially go up".

Guess I was turning it off after the first flicker interpreting the directions incorrectly

Thanks all for the help, hopefully this thread helps somebody else out. Love this light!!!

Seaward, this helped me out tremendously!! I never even knew they were capable of the programming, I am selling two on the marketplace right now, but maybe I'll keep them after all :D

What's your serial number ? Some of the earlier ones didn't have the programmable modes I think.
Even the early ones are programmable. I still have and use often) the Gladius we used for the original passaround, back when they were first released.

Seaward, glad to hear you got it sorted it out. It also took me a couple of tries to get it to cycle modes. I do as Moonshadow and have it set to whatever level I used previously (usually low-low).

Redcar's right - you have to do this TWICE. Then it will change to the next mode. I also have mine set to come back on at whatever level you've set it to.
