BlackHawk HawkHook

I actually just ordered one from LA Police Gear a few days ago... I was actually searching for info on the Gerber Artifact and stumbled upon EDCforums and found the same link you posted.

In spite of the novelty, I can't help but think of how cool that would look with a spear point blade.

I got a call from LA Police Gear the other day. They don't have them in stock yet. They said 2-3 weeks before they get them...

Is it just me or does anybody else see the Boker-Plus/CLB resemblance?

Check out the new BokerPlus 550 Hyper from CLB and you'll be pretty close, though it is a drop-point.

I got my HawkHook on Monday. Nicely built. Blade is marked "TAIWAN AUS8A" on one side and "HAWKHOOK™" "BLACKHAWK!" on the other. The metal parts have a satin finish to them that's real similar to Gerber's blades and a stiff pocket clip.

The seatbelt cutter is RAZOR sharp. I have never used one before… and even though this one seems quite sharp to me, I'm still a bit doubtful as to its usefulness for the intended purpose. I suspect you would still have to give it a vicious yank to get it to cut a seatbelt, and you would have to hold the seatbelt extremely taught (if it folds while cutting, forget it and bust out the Sawzall).

I'm also not so sure about the built-in glass breaker. I can't seem to get very good velocity with it if BlackHawk's instructions on glass-breaking are followed.

Still, I rather like it from a toy standpoint. Nice little hunk of metal. Actually I think it would be better suited as a tool to cut rope off your wrists if your hands are tied behind your back (obviously the HawkHook would have to be stored somewhere where you could get at it in such a situation). You could probably cut the ropes without worrying about stabbing yourself, as with a regular pointed blade.

Maybe I'll hit the junkyard this weekend to practice breaking windows and cutting seatbelts. ;-)
