Blaster Jr. or Illuma-lux

I've been hearing some great things about 2 lights. The Blaster Jr. and the Illuma-lux. Could someone who owns or has observed these light critique them to some degree. The Jr. sounds really bright from what people are saying. The Illuma looks somewhat like SL's Luxeon Star 3AA. Mostly curious about the light quality, since I've seen pictures of these. I do believe that they are completely differant types of lights.But if you could have only 1. which would it be? Also the battery duration stuff. Thanks

The Blaster Jr. will appear brighter and
will have more throw because of the 30mm
optic. However it is much heavier and is
not as easy to carry because of it's chunkier
format. Basicly the same setup in 2 totaly
different packages. The BJ is also a custom
made body that is more expensive.
Beams should be good on both, but diff.
Battery life should be exactly the same on both.
It depends on what you want.

are you saying that the led's are the same on the jr vs Illuma-lux ? which one would you choose and why? trying to get an idea of which one to buy, need it for all purpose type stuff. Severe

They use the same LEDs. The Blaster Junior uses the 30mm optic, and I believe the Illuma-Lux uses an acrylic ball to focus the beam. I don't have either of them so I can't tell you how their beams compare.

Personally I would choose the Illuma-lux because I like
lights that are easily carried and because I don't tend
to spend more than $35.00 for most of my lights. Another
reason is that I have the Electro-Star headlight so the
Blaster Jr. would somewhat be a duplication for me.

They use different led's.
The Illuma-lux uses a LowDome, probably to work best with the optic.
The BlasterJr uses a HD, which focuses better with the 30mm optic.

The Blaster Jr will have a tight bright hotspot with not much side spill and will shine very far.
The Illuma-lux has a wide even smooth "flood" beam which is very use full for up close work and is also pretty bright for walking around at night.

I think you will like the blaster Jr more. I have the Blaster III and the Illuma-lux, and I like the beam and construction quality of the Blaster III much more than my Illuma-lux. I am tempted to get the Blaster Jr, and had I seen the two before ordering, I would have ordered the Blaster Jr instead of the IL. The Illuma-lux is a nice flashlight, but it does not seem to be as nicely made as the Blaster series.
