all these weeks of having an edc on me, i grew to the habit of reaching into my pocket for late night snack runs, putting out the trash, spotting bugs, searching in cabinets, hanging it over the keyboard when using computer in the dark, etc etc etc....

today i discover i don't have it, and i cannot recall where the heck i put it. all the usual suspected locations, car, bedside table, different pants pocket, top of tv, top of fridge, fireplace, nada! i have lost my mchappy! one really doesn't realise how much one uses something till it is no more... no one in the house seems to recall seeing the pink/blue light wrapped in gaffers tape either. grrr. the longer i dont have it the longer i feel, well, *naked*. ack, i'm addicted! sob, snif

how sad... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif

what was it?

hey, can i edc a sf g2? i wanna get one not sure if pant pocket carry will work, the 6p/e2 too pricey right now

Yeah, you can edc that g2, but you'll get asked "is that a flashlight in your pocket or are you just glad to see me?". Seriously, I edc a clunky old Nokia cellphone that's bigger than a g2; it's annoying but since I use it regularly I don't mind. But rather than a g2 you might look at a UKE 2L (broken record...), about $25 from brightguy.com or elsewhere. It's about the size and brightness of an e2/LOLA and a little bit lighter because of its polymer construction. If you want to go even cheaper, try a Princeton Tec Rage, again about the same size and brightness but uses four AAA's so the runtime is shorter (and you'll want to use NiMH cells in it if you can).

2L is twist head, i really really want a tailcap clickie. might wander to walmart to see if they have the legend lx..

I don't think the e2 is a clickie, just momentary. You have to twist the tailcap for constant on. I haven't used one though. You can get cheesy one-hand operation with the 2L by twisting the head til it's ALMOST about to turn on. Then it will turn on if you pull back on the head, compressing the O-ring a little. Letting go means the O ring springs back and the light turns off. This is sort of a fidgety thing but I guess it's useful in some situations.

that's exactly what i did with the mchappy /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif and since i use it momentarily, the tailcap switch is just fine.

I have a McHappy body if you need to replace it. The one I have is grey and I'm not sure if there is a lens in it. If you want it let me know.

thanks for the offer, but i'll search the house some more. and maybe go get myself a G2 /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I've found that if you lubricate the O-rings really well and work them in a bit, the 2L becomes a one hand light. The rubberized bezel with its "mini-fins" provide an excellent grip that makes applying enough single handed torque quite easy.

Occasionally you will come across a 2L bezel that doesn't move so easily but that's pretty rare. The majority of the several dozen 2L I've owned or gifted have had compliant bezels after proper lubing.

After all these years the 2L is still unique.

I have the old 2L with the clear lexan bezel which I think is a little smaller than the rubberized bezel.

How would you compare the 2L's size with an SF E2? (A side by side pic would be even better). I think of the 2L as a little smaller, but maybe I'm wrong. The 2L is tiny compared to the P6 though.

the 2L and E2 are the same width but the bezel of the 2L is a bit bigger.
in my opinion the 2L is as pocketable as the E2.
the 2L can be easily turned on/off one handed.

idd, your sigline...sounds like it might be time for an update...

bwcaw, a McHappy was a 1AA Garrity Toughlight, modified with a Nichia side-emitted on a regulated circuit. cute little light that packed a wallop for it's size. sorta like the CMG Infinity Ultra and Arc AAA.

Roth, sig updated!

I lost my Arc AAA in less than 24 hours after receiving it.

Is this a record?

This was Friday last week, and I'm still depressed.

Kinda stupid, at least to non-flashaholics. It happened on the day after I received it, and it was the first time I took it out with me. I decided to just try and carry it in my jeans pocket, the tiny one. What's that pocket good for anyway?

I left a small part of it sticking out, but not much, just so that I could see it was there. When I put it in I could barely feel it, a fact that, as we will soon see, bears some significance.

I think my biggest mistake was to keep change in my large pocket. I had to, because I lost my purse a few weeks ago.

What must have happened thereafter is when I reached down and pulled out change from my pocket, the Arc just went along silently. I am quite sure it didn't just fall out by itself, as a result of my walking. I never felt it coming out or heard it dropping on the pavement. I guess the loud traffic was to blame. I only noticed it was missing when I got home, and didn't even bother to go back searching for it.

It all happened in broad daylight.

Lesson learned: Make sure you attach tiny flashlights to something.
